ASSIGNMENT DUE ON 9/27- TIME FOR SCHOOL CON'T

Continue Watching the PBS Documentary “ Time for School”.  PART 1 ONLY

As you watch - Jot down as many significant points as possible. These significant points should somehow relate to social identity and education. Focus on each perspective as it is portrayed in the documentary.

What is the main issue from Shuguta's point of view and her social realm?  

Jefferson's circumstance from his perspective and his social realm?

 Neeraj from her perspective and her realm?

In addition, Ken and  his perspective.  

TAke as many notes as you can.. if you have questions while you are watching , write them down!

For Homework:
For EACH PERSPECTIVE – TOTAL OF 4 perspectives

Ø  Highlight one issue and take a position. Agree or Disagree. Why?
Ø  Extract two main points. Discuss why these arguments are important.
Ø  Provide a 2 Sentence statement encompassing the main idea of the segment. For example, Shugufa struggles to maintain her social and educational identity in Afganistan where girls are not widely accepted in the educational system.




Once you have developed a thesis (your two sentence statement) - Give two concrete examples to support your statements. Use quotes to support your statements /thesis. Go back and look for your quotes by reviewing the video. 




Once you have completed all the bullets for all FOUR perspectives, answer:


Where do you stand as far as the issueof education and external forces that prevent education are concerned?
