What to look forward to ?
Next week we will be moving into Education and Identity. Education will be our fourth realm into the analysis of " Identity Through Writing".
When immigrants move to a new country they are forced to assimilate. They have to give up their traditions and culture. This causes many immigrants to feel a loss of identity now that they have to change who they are to be accepted by others.

ReplyDeleteVideo- People who immigrate have a different set of rights and make different claims than people who were always there. They have different understanding of what religion means to identity.
Article- Every year, unique people with their own cultural history immigrate to United States. These new citizens have to adopt the new culture and fit in the society.

Video Thesis: Immigration is at the center of a humans story. Where they come from, Where they reside, tells a narrative that is unique to them, offering new opportunities for those in need. Religion, background and your personal beliefs are connected to your sense of self and identity.
Article Thesis: The article "Should immigration require assimilation" by Tom Gjelton, highlights the question of what it truly means to be an American, how America having one common culture is a topic up for debate. People with different cultures and heritages living as a single unit causes ethnic diversity, whether thats political or cultural.

video- Our culture is where we came from, our traditions, who we are as human beings and is what makes each and everyone one of us unique from one another. Immigration is a vital part of the humans species, it joins us together, giving us a chance to experience other cultures and lifestyles.

Immigrants were forced to assimilate, change their beliefs, religion, traditions and lifestyles, to adapt to the culture of their new homeland. The big question is whether or not assimilation should be required in the United States.

The variety of races in The United States has had an huge impact on the nation's identity as a state. The integration of multiple races has led to multiple minority races to sacrifice parts, small or large, of their identity to assimilate with the identity of the nation.

Although some view the need to assimilate, immigrants are still held at an equal stand point with indigenous people regardless of their cultural or religious contradictions.

ReplyDeleteViedo: Although some may argue that newly incoming immigrants should fully assimilate. People should never forget about their culture and instead maintain their culture heritage.
Article: Many immigrants feel the heavy burden that assimilation brings upon them. Although the United States has made programs to make it easier to assimilate, The United States is a very diverse country and shouldn't force assimilation.
Immigration is an important part of American society. This is expressed in the article "Should Immigration Require Assimilation?" written by Tom Gjeltan. When immigrants travel to the United States, they are slowly pressured into assimilation and lose the culture they arrive with. This results in loss of culture or alienated immigrants in American society as they believe they should treasure their cultures and refuse to assimilate.

Video thesis - Immigration is something which happens because people from different countries relocate to a different country in pursuit of a better life, however, what some of us fail to see is the difference it can make in peoples life, they now must get accustomed to these new ideologies, religions and lifestyle. This change can be quite impactful.
ReplyDeleteArticle thesis - When immigrants relocate to a different country they must assimilate to the new environment and lifestyle. This is not always easy, even when the country makes programs to help them out, this is because you are essentially leaving a huge chunk of yourself in order to assimilate to this new environment and this is not an easy decision to make.
