Thesis: Although some believe assimilation is the eradication of ones native heritage, others believe it to be based on principle. Assimilation should be based off the Constitutions rule of law in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Ever since the gates of Ellis Island opened, assimilation has been a incongruous process for immigrants. The impediments of immigration have been caused by crimes of immigrants being associated with a population, fear of immigrants, and there being an abundant of methods for fitting in.

ReplyDeleteHaving a sense of belonging is something that may Immigrant’s struggle with. They must adopt a new culture and start over. Mira wants to feel like she is part of a community that she had to change for. Being able to keep your identity and not have to hide who you are is very important to Immigrants and American citizens as well.

Coming to a whole new country and adopting to a new system isn't the ideal for many immigrants. Having your identity is something immigrants will always cherish for the rest of their lives. The assimilation process has and always will be a difficult for immigrants but hiding your true identity under the shadow to blend in society is even harder. - What Does It Take To "Assimilate" in America?

Article 1 thesis
ReplyDeleteThe most difficult part for immigrants in today’s society is assimilation. In the most diverse times it is hard for a non-American citizen to fit in and find there own way.
Article 2
ReplyDeleteAssimilation has never been an easy thing to accomplish, and one can never really know when they've completed assimilated. Immigrants trying to assimilate would face many challenges such as discrimination and ridicule.
Something immigrants have trouble with is feeling like they belong. Having to possibly change your identity to be considered apart of society is something an immigrant wont take lightly. The assimilation process makes it harder for immigrants to feel like they are apart of society.

Thesis for Article 1: Fitting in a new area that is significantly different can be new and challenging. The two ways that depend on you belonging in America are for you to transform yourself as an immigrant or for you to be an exile.
